BACKGROUND
Koshi Health Institute (KHI) is established as a wing of "Nepal Suwasthiya Bikas tatha Anusandhan Sahakari sanstha limited (NSBAS)" under the district co-operative office Morang in pursuant to section 5 of Nepal co-operative Act 2048 in 2054 BS. The core goal of establishment of NSBAS is the production of skilled and competent lower and middle level health care man power for delivering primary health care services throughout the nation and offer quality health care services to the  population of  Morang district as well as Koshi province through own health care setting at minimal cost compare to other private hospital; by cooperating with Government health program. To fulfill this vision, NSBAS has two wings i.e Koshi Health Institute and Morang Co-operative Hospital. 
KHI has been producing qualified mid-level health workers such as Health assistant (HA), diploma in pharmacy, affiliated from Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).KHI is recognized by Nepal Health Professional Council (NHPC) and Nepal Pharmacy Council (NPC). Under the Pre-diploma program on health sector KHI has produced lower level health manpowers such as Community Medicine Assistant (CMA) 18 months, Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) 18 months  and Lab Assistant 18 months training program since 2054 to 2076 BS, under the affiliation from CTEVT and also recognized by Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) and NHPC. Now, pre diploma program has been phased out under the guidelines of the Medical Education Commission (MEC) and these programs are in the process of upgrading to a diploma level program. KHI offers Diploma in Physiotherapy, Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology and Proficiency certificate level in Nursing program in affiliation with CTEVT under the pre-diploma program up-gradation guidelines of Medical education commission. 

Morang cooperative Hospital is the another wing of "Nepal Suwasthiya Bikas tatha Anusandhan Sahakari sanstha limited (NSBAS)” as a 100 beded Hospital recognized from Department of Health Services (DOHS) Nepal. It is established for the delivery of quality health services by trained and skilled manpower and offers affordable health care services ranging from primary health care to super specialized services as well. Morang cooperative Hospital provides free health care services by cooperating with Nepal government vertical program.Recently MCH offers Routine Immunization, Hemodialysis and Obstetrics services free of cost.
  NSBAS has also been conducting operational research on health care delivery to assure quality as well as need based health services, health practice and partnering with the community to disseminate and apply new knowledge.  
KHI has been running in a well maintained own building in a 12 kattha compound situated at the central part of Biratnagar Metropolitan City.  It has sufficient class rooms with essential furniture, a well maintained  library, laboratories and office. It has well- equipped laboratory facilities with modern equipments and accessories required for demonstration and practical classes on basic sciences including clinical practices, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, Hematology, Anatomy, Midwifery, Community and Fundamental nursing.
KHI provides a learning environment in which students learn both theoretically and practically. Through our extracurricular and curricular activities, we instill personal qualities such as self reliance, self confidence, discipline, and leadership qualities in our students and prepare them for forthcoming challenges.
As a cooperative organization it has 30 active founder members and 7 members governing body which is formed by conducting elections every five years and a general assembly of founder members is carried out in each year. General assembly is conducted in Ashoj/Kartik each year by Governing body of the organization.
